19 September 2016 - Projects update and handover - France

19 September 2016 saw the launch of the works to widen the A9 motorway between Le Boulou (south-west France) and the Spanish border, as part of the French Motorway Plan.

Valued at €180 million, entirely financed by VINCI Autoroutes, these works involve creating a third traffic lane in each direction over a distance of 9 km, widening eight bridges and four viaducts (three of which have piers over 50 m in height) and the construction of nine water protection basins.

Narrower traffic lanes, speed limits and night-time contraflow arrangements will apply throughout the first phase of the works. Entry into service of the widened A9 is scheduled for February 2020.

A part of the works, which stretch over 15 kilometres, will be carried out by a VINCI Construction Terrassement led joint venture that included VINCI subsidiaries GTM Sud, Sogea Sud, Eurovia Méditerranée, Eurovia GPI, Cognac TP and Dodin Campenon Bernard as well as several partners, including Razel-Bec, Guintoli, EHTP and NGE.
