Work starts on Line 1 of Ho Chi Minh-City metro

Bachy Soletanche Vietnam (BSV) (Soletanche Freyssinet/VINCI Construction) has made a start on the retaining works at the Opera House station on the future Line 1 of the Ho Chi Minh-City metro, on behalf of Shimizu-Maeda JV. These works involve the creation of 25,700 sq. metres of diaphragm walls as well as 165 pre-founded columns, and are scheduled to take 6 months. Contract value: $7.5m. On this project, Freyssinet, also a Soletanche Freyssinet subsidiary (VINCI Construction), is charged with the construction of the deck of a viaduct (12 km): 4,565 concrete segments (each 40 t) will be prefabricated, transported, re-assembled and prestressed, with the help of 3 launching girders
