1 July 2014 - New contracts - Qatar

After winning the first works phases for the light rail transit (LRT) system in Lusail, Qatar, in 2007 and then in 2011, QDVC, a 51% Qatari Diar/49% VINCI Construction Grands Projets subsidiary, has won the contract for the last phase of the project. This design-build contract, worth about €2 billion, will be implemented by QDVC in a consortium with Alstom.

It involves the construction of 25 stations and a depot, the architectural and electro-mechanical works packages, integrated project management and, for Alstom, supplying, for €750 million, 35 trains equipped with catenary-free technology, track-laying, the energy supply and the telecommunications and control systems. This light rail system is scheduled to begin operating in 2018 (yellow line) and 2020 (green, red and purple lines). After completing the civil engineering works on the first phases of the infrastructure (7 km of tunnels, 7 underground and 4 above-ground stations, as well as an access viaduct to the depot), QDVC is currently building the Pearl station, which will connect the Lusail light rail system with the Doha metro, also under construction.
