The 25th MIPIM – the leading real estate event for property professionals – is on from 11 to 14 March 2014 in Cannes and provides an opportunity for VINCI to present a few of its Grand Paris projects and to help generate new ideas for Cities.

VINCI and the Grand Paris programme

The Société du Grand Paris, AFTRP, Sénart EPA, Seine-Aval EPA, Plaine de France EPA, Marne-la-Vallée EPA, Orly Rungis Seine-Amont EPA, La Défense Seine Arche EPA and Etablissement Public Paris-Saclay are sharing a space to present their initiatives and projects as part of the Grand Paris programme and more generally the economic, social and urban development of the Greater Paris area.

As a Partner, VINCI is presenting the scale model of VINCI Immobilier’s Universeine project. This mixed programme encompasses 130,000 sq. metres of offices, business premises and housing. The goal for Universeine is to sustainably convert a strip of industrial wasteland in Saint-Denis at the heart of the Grand Paris. The 6.4 hectare site offers an opportunity to develop a new mixed-purpose neighbourhood around a project designed to highlight the industrial architectural heritage (the former Saint-Denis 1 power plant). VINCI Immobilier and the Caisse des Dépôts earned HQETM Aménagement certification for this Universeine operation in Saint-Denis in October 2013. This certification attests to the project’s environmental and societal performance, and Universeine is the first operation certified to comply with HQETM Aménagement standards in the Grand Paris programme, cementing this urban operation’s exemplary edge.

VINCI Construction France is also presenting an augmented virtual reality experience of the Entrepôt Macdonald project for Paris Nord-Est, the Tour D2 project in La Défense, the Gare de Créteil-Pompadour innovative multimodal station providing new interconnections between bus and RER D commuter train lines for the south-eastern Val-de-Marne department and the project to extend Metro Line 12.

Paris Nord-Est is the name of the most gigantic urban development project in Paris so far. It ties in with the fast-changing area north of Paris and south of Plaine Saint Denis, and is the most extensive in the entire Greater Paris area. This large-scale urban renewal project (GPRU for Grand Projet de Renouvellement Urbain) is aimed at building a city within the city in a long-neglected area northeast of France’s capital.

Urban development and the circular economy

As one of the players on the urban development front, VINCI has been at MIPIM several times to present some of its operations combining technical prowess and initiatives to accommodate project stakeholders. In 2012, VINCI presented a transport operation in a densely populated area – the Crossrail project in London – and, in 2013, a complex operation combining a multimodal station, a shopping centre, a large public area and underground roadways in central Paris – the Forum des Halles revamp.

In 2014, VINCI is hosting a conference on “Rebuilding Cities within Cities: a circular economy?” in association with the Fabrique de la Cité (City Factory), an interdisciplinary and international think tank, that will strive to identify best practices and propose new ways of designing cities.

The Revalo initiative is a partnership between four prominent names in the building and recycling world – AGC Glass Europe, GTM Bâtiment (a VINCI Construction France subsidiary), Veka Recyclage, VeoliaPropreté and the Institut Supérieur d’Études Logistiques (ISEL) at Le Havre University engineering school – that fully recycles windows at the end of their lives to make new windows. This new recycling stream is supported by ADEME (the French Environment and Energy Management Agency) and won the Sustainable Development award at the 2013 VINCI Innovation Awards competition in the Paris region.
