Upgrading a VHV line

Čeps, which manages the Czech electricity transmission network, has appointed a consortium notably comprising GA Energo, lead contractor, and Elektrotrans (both VINCI Energies International business units) to upgrade the Výškov very high voltage line (400 kV), to the north of Prague. In order to double transmission capacity, the existing line will be dismantled and rebuilt.
The works will involve replacing 299 pylons, as well as all the conductors over a distance of 98 km. Starting in 2014, they will continue through till 2016. Total contract value: €82m.
