In June 2023, Tedagua (Cobra IS) was presented with the 2023 Humanitarian Initiative Award at the 13th international congress of the Spanish association for the desalination and reuse of water (AEDyR), in recognition of its efficient and quick response after the eruption of the Cumbre Vieja volcano, in September 2021, on the island of Palma in the Canary Islands.
Tedagua supplied, installed and brought into service two portable seawater desalination plants for the irrigation of 600 hectares of farmland in the municipality of Los Llanos de Aridane. Given the urgent need for water, the installation and start-up of these two plants, designed to each supply 2,800 m3 of treated water per day, were completed in just 17 days (instead of the usual six months), thus limiting the impact of the volcanic eruption on the lives of local people.
