1 June 2014 - Projects update and handover - France

Dumez IDF (VINCI Construction France) has handed over the new conservatoire of music in the 12th arrondissement in Paris to the city’s heritage and architecture department. In order to best integrate this new facility into its surroundings, the Charolais integrated development zone, its architect, Bernard Desmoulin, chose to link its two buildings with a curving façade covered with an enamelled ceramic cladding and gold-coloured mirror-polished stainless steel. The architecture takes account of acoustic constraints: in order to limit as far as possible the reverberation and propagation of sound, the building is equipped with double floors on elastomer mounts.
Worth €11.6m, this project was delivered without a false note.
