30 October 2018 - Projects update and handover - France

An agreement was concluded in mid-October between LISEA (VINCI Railways/VINCI Concessions), SNCF Réseau, Eurotunnel and HS1 (the HSL between the British end of the tunnel beneath the Channel and London) to launch a feasibility study regarding adapting Bordeaux Saint-Jean Station for a future development of cross-Channel traffic.

This agreement, which marks a key milestone in the cooperation between the four infrastructure managers, concerns undertaking a study of the border control facilities that would be required in order to enable passengers to travel directly from Bordeaux Saint-Jean to London St Pancras.

The project for a new rail link, made possible by the recent entry into service of the SEA HSL, would result in a journey time between Bordeaux and London of less than five hours.
