12 July 2013 - Events - France

The new bridge over the Saint-Étienne River on Reunion Island, linking the communes of Saint-Louis and Saint-Pierre, was inaugurated on 10 June 2013 and then opened to traffic on 12 June. This 2x2 lane, 694.5 m-long structure with its nine spans was created by a consortium notably comprising Dodin Campenon Bernard, leader, and SBTPC (both VINCI Construction subsidiaries), as well as Botte Fondations (VINCI Construction France) and Baudin Chateauneuf-Berthold for the steel framework. This new bridge replaces a former bridge that had been destroyed by the cyclone Gamède in 2007. It is used by between 50,000 and 60,000 vehicles a day. Value of the works for VINCI Construction: €88m.
