1 February 2015 - New contracts - Malaysia

The Malaysian property developer Jesselton Group has awarded VINCI Construction Grands Projets the construction, on a general contracting basis (not including the foundations or the re-using of existing infrastructure), of a 125,000 sq. metre mixed-use development on the seafront in Kota Kinabalu, in the north of the island of Borneo. The project comprises a seven-storey podium, over two underground levels that will house a 20,000 sq. metre shopping centre and more than 900 parking spaces, as well as a trio of 20-storey residential towers providing a total of 333 apartments. It will involve the deployment of 70,000 cu. metres of structural concrete, and 6,500 tonnes of steel and prestressed concrete. Handover is scheduled for July 2016 after 20 months of works, i.e. 2 million working hours. 600 Indonesians will be participating in the construction of the complex. The value of the contract, which does not include the foundations and underground levels, is €70 million. This further success confirms VINCI Construction Grands Projets’s position as an operator in Malaysia, where local developers appreciate the quality of the structures it has completed and is currently building. VINCI Construction Grands Projets is currently implementing the Menara Hap Seng tower project in Kota Kinabalu under a design-build contract, and is also participating, in Kuala Lumpur, in the construction of the Berjaya Central Park residential and office complex, having previously delivered the Berjaya Time Square shopping centre in 2003.
