Gerstheim dyke

To enhance the dam of the Grand Canal of Alsace (left bank,Gerstheim), Soletanche Bachy ( Soletanche Freyssinet / VINCI Construction) has been selected by EDF to achieve, in January 2015, a 11 kilometers long impermeable cut-off wall within the dike.  Soletanche Bachy works on the Trenchmix process : the ground up is used as a building material. The machine breaks up and mixes the soil with a cement grout without the need to excavate and remove it. The resulting mix of soil and grout solidifies to form a continuous underground barrier, 5 to 10 meters deep.
