Creation of the northern interchange in Ouagadougou

To relieve congestion at one of the busiest intersections in the Burkina Faso capital, the Ministry of Infrastructure has appointed Sogea-Satom (VINCI Construction International Network) to build Ouagadougou’s northern interchange, located in the centre of the city.

Sogea-Satom is in fact continuing works on the interchange that had already started at the beginning of the year, at the north-west end of the city’s ring road. Given the worksite’s location at the interface between two dams, the teams have had to dry out and drain the entire area and then construct two new dams, upstream and downstream of the site.

Comprising 14 engineering structures, some based on deep foundations and two located above an operating railway line, this is a flagship project that will contribute to completing the ring road round the capital of Burkina Faso.

Terre Armée (VINCI Construction) is contributing to four of the project’s engineering structures, designing, supplying and providing technical assistance in the construction of Reinforced Earth® access roads (total surface area: 12,000 sq. metres).
