18 June 2015 - Projects update and handover - France

On 28 April 2015, after two and a half years of restoration works carried out on behalf of the Ministry of Culture (Languedoc-Roussillon Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs), the apse cross of Notre-Dame-de-Saint-Privat Cathedral, in Mende (Lozère, southern France), was blessed by Mgr François Jacolin. The project was managed by Christophe Amiot, chief architect at Monuments Historiques; the roof frame/roofing works were supplied by Bourgeois (VINCI Construction France). The project notably involved totally overhauling the stone (lauze) nave, renewing the roofing of the porch, in lauze and copper, and creating and then installing the apse cross on the ridge of the cathedral’s roof.
