VINCI wins contract to upgrade London’s Victoria Tube station

Transport for London (TfL) has awarded the contract to upgradeVictoria Tube station to VINCI BAM Nuttall Ltd, the consortiumcomprising Taylor Woodrow (VINCI Construction UK) and BAM Nuttall Ltd.

The project calls for modernising and improving access to one of LondonUnderground’s busiest and most congested stations, with 80million passengers a year.

The station will be upgraded in two phases.

•    The first phase includesbuilding a new entrance and a new ticket hall. Works will start in 2011and should be completed in 2016.
•    The second phase involvesinstalling new lifts and escalators in the existing ticket hall, whichwill be doubled in size. Delivery of this phase is scheduled for 2018.

This further success follows on from the contract won by VINCI BAMNuttall in December 2009 to upgrade London’s Tottenham CourtRoad Tube station.
