Ringway group announcement: Acquisition of BAR-W Airports Limited
I am very pleased to announce that on 9th January 2009 we acquired the assets and contracts ofBAR-W Airports Limited, a specialist services company that operates throughout the UK on airfields from its Inverness base.
BAR-W has many years experience in delivering negotiated turnkey type contracts and term services to airports and airfields, both civilian and military. It currently holds long-term contracts with the Scottish Highlands and Islands Airports (HIAL) covering their 12 airports, and several contracts for BAA and other organisations in the Scottish mainstream airports.
BAR-W mirrors the business model of Ringway, with a strong belief in self-delivery and providing long-term services through integrated teams. This has been particularly successful for HIAL and isnow being broadened through relationships with main contractors and BAA in England.
BAR-W, as a small family-owned business, has recently seen its ability to continue to grow limitedby its size, resources and backing. As part of the acquisition, the BAR-W business and employeeswill transfer to Ringway and will merge with the existing Airport Services Management Unit in theRingway Specialist Treatments Division, reporting to Rob Gillespie.
The bringing together of the BAR-W specialisms and the wider portfolio of Ringway, with our associated corporate strength, provides an excellent opportunity to establish Ringway Airport Services as a major service provider in the airports sector, one of the aims of our Five Year Plan.
