Fusegates on a dam

As part of a project to install a back-up spillway at the Massingir dam, the company China Henan Co has appointed Hydroplus (VINCI Construction Grands Projets) to design and install fusegates. The aim of building a back-up spillway fitted with 14 straight fusegates is to increase the dam’s water evacuation capacity, currently insufficient to handle maximum high water levels, up to a total of 34,000 cu. metres/s. The design work will be undertaken in 2012, with the installation works scheduled for 2013.
