Construction of an Underground Reservoir in New York
Nicholson Construction and Soletanche Bachy International, both subsidiaries of VINCI Construction, are contributing to the wastewater evacuation project for the Gowanus Owls Head Canal in New York.
To improve water quality, they are tasked with installing one underground reservoir that will account for one-third of the total storage capacity. Nicholson will construct a 20,000 m² diaphragm wall to facilitate the installation of a wastewater storage reservoir. These infrastructures will store and intercept up to several million liters of wastewater.
This initiative, carried out as part of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s "Superfund" program, is part of a broader effort to restore water quality in New York. The project is scheduled for completion in May 2027.
