Background
Karla Bertocco Trindade is a senior executive and board member with more than 20 years of leadership and governance experience across the public and private sectors, with a strong background in infrastructure, water and sanitation, and public-private partnerships (PPPs). Ms Bertocco Trindade earned degrees in public policy and administration from Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV) and in law from Pontificia Universidade Católica de São Paulo. She also holds a diploma of advanced studies in administrative law and regulation. She began her career working in the area of regulation at the water and waste management company Sabesp, before joining the São Paulo state water, sanitation and energy regulatory agency Arsesp as General Director. She then moved to the transport sector, as General Director of the São Paulo state public transport regulatory agency Artesp. At the end of her term of office, she was appointed Undersecretary for Partnerships and Innovation, with responsibility for the design and implementation of several public-private partnerships in sectors including toll motorways, urban mobility, energy and airports. Subsequently, she was named Chief Executive Officer of Sabesp, then Managing Director of the Government and Infrastructure Division at BNDES – Brazilian Development Bank. Having served as a company director since 2020, initially at Corsan, Orizon Valorizaçao de Residuos and Equatorial Energia, she was appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sabesp in 2023, to spearhead its privatisation process.
