A fully-electric de-icer for aircraft

In 2022, Clermont-Ferrand Auvergne Airport, managed by VINCI Airports (VINCI Concessions), acquired the world’s first fully-electric de-icer.

It has a battery powerful enough to carry out 8 to 12 de-icing operations per charge, depending on the state of the aircraft. This innovation makes it possible to shorten the time needed for de-icing operations thanks to an optimised heating time, while at the same time limiting the use of de-icing products.
