Building a drinking water treatment plant

Sogea-Satom (VINCI Construction International Network) began work in August on the construction of the Katosi drinking water treatment plant, located near the capital, Kampala, on the banks of Lake Victoria.

Awarded by the National Water & Sewerage Corporation (NWSC), the contract covers the design and construction of the plant, which will treat 160,000 cu. metres of water a day.

Sogea-Satom must also install 10 km of piping (DN 1,400 mm) to transfer the treated water, and a 40,000 cu. metre storage reservoir. The amount of drinking water delivered to Kampala will eventually be doubled.
