VINCI wins motorway contract in northern Slovakia

27 May 2014 - 5:45 pm - New contracts - Slovakia

- €255 million contract
- State-of-the-art infrastructure project

A consortium led by VINCI via its subsidiaries Eurovia (48%) and SMP CZ (12%) and which also includes Hochtief CZ (40%), has just won a €255 million contract to build a new section of the D3 motorway in Slovakia.

This new 4.2 km section will link Strážov and Brodno on the outskirts of Žilina in the northern part of the country. The project includes the construction of four engineering structures: a 2.2 km tunnel and three bridges, one of which is a 1.4 km viaduct across the Hričovská dam. The contract also covers a large number of ancillary works, including restoration of secondary road networks, a variety of drainage works and the installation of all required motorway equipment such as emergency call boxes, met stations, variable message boards, ice warning and video surveillance systems. About 500 people will be working on the project for a period of three years.

To protect the environment, the project provides for optimum blending into the landscapes through which it runs and re-planting of vegetation, including 60,000 bushes and 13,500 trees, along the edges of the infrastructure.
