15 July 2019 - Projects update and handover - France

Eurovia’s Nantes office has been working since early 2019 on developing the public spaces in the Feydeau neighbourhood and, secondly, adapting the roadways and infrastructure in preparation for the arrival of electric buses using reserved lanes.

As regards the former case, the works involve dismantling existing roadways, sanitation and surfacing works - all requiring meticulous planning of the successive phases of the operations given their location in the very centre of the city. These works will be completed by August 2022.

In the latter case, the teams are working simultaneously on 20 worksites of greatly differing dimensions along the 7 km of lanes to be used by the future ‘e-Busways’ (platform for the technical maintenance centre, wide circulation space, occasional bus stops…).

These works will be completed in 10 months and, at their peak, will see up to 7 teams working at the same time. The new buses will be able to carry more passengers than traditional buses – a response to rising passenger numbers on the network – and will partially recharge their batteries at equipped stops.
