The BIM d’Or awards, which Le Moniteur group holds every year, reward construction companies for outstanding collaborative working methods in general, and for their use of digital modelling tools in particular. The VINCI Construction France and VINCI Construction Grands Projets teams received their awards at the ceremony that took place this 17 September in Paris.

The Jardins de l’Arche high-rise, in La Défense near Paris, won first prize in the category for new buildings spanning over 40,000 sq. metres. This project developed by Adim Paris Ile de France (a VINCI Construction France subsidiary) will house three hotels, a number of offices and a rooftop belvedere. The scale model, which was 3D-printed from the digital model and fitted with 500 sensors, attracted considerable praise – for example on account of its use in wind-tunnel tests.

The teams at Citinea (a VINCI Construction France subsidiary) won the prize in the category for renovation projects spanning over 40,000 sq. metres for their work revamping the Noirettes and Grand Bois complexes in Vaulx en Velin, near Lyon. The BIM tools, which they set up during the planning step and which will remain in use throughout the operation phase, are helping everyone working on this project to pool information and share working methods.

The prize in the international construction category went to the VINCI Construction Grands Projets teams working on the National Research Oncology Center project in Astana, Kazakhstan. The “Full-BIM” approach, a first in this country in Central Asia, for example facilitated teamwork among contributors based on different continents.
