Renovation and modernisation works at the Château de Fontainebleau

TP Goulard (Eurovia) teams are currently undertaking drainage and accessibility works at the Château de Fontainebleau.

On the one hand, the works involve renovating the main courtyard, installing a porous reservoir pavement as well as paving in order to create pathways providing access for people with reduced mobility. In order to preserve the site’s historical authenticity, it was decided to use individually-sorted, site-sourced cobbles of Fontainebleau sandstone, combined with a special technique for creating the joints.

On the other hand, in order to modernise the Belle Cheminée wing and bring it up to standard, earthworks have been carried below ground level, inside the building, under archaeological supervision, resulting in a number of discoveries.

These works have also been an opportunity for long-term unemployed people to contribute a total of 2,222 integration-through-work hours.
