Power Road®, the road to positive energy, continues its rollout

In Forez-Est (Loire) and Fleury-sur-Orne (Calvados), Eurovia is continuing to roll out its Power Road® technology, which captures thermal energy from the sun’s rays on roadways and either stores it or puts it to immediate use in nearby infrastructure.

In Forez-Est, the technology will be implemented in a car park near a public swimming pool. The energy generated will be used to heat the water of the pool, reducing its CO₂ emissions by 16 tonnes per year. In Fleury-sur-Orne, Power Road® technology will heat social housing as part of an electricity and heating retrofit programme. A total of 1,420 m² of roads will be kitted out with the technology to meet 75% of heating and domestic hot water needs and reduce CO₂ emissions by 75%.
