Phnom Penh Airport named best regional airport in the Asia-Pacific region

On 14 November 2019, at the CAPA Asia Aviation Summit in Singapore, Phnom Penh International Airport – managed for almost 25 years by VINCI Airports – was named best regional airport of the year in the Asia-Pacific region in the category for airports handling fewer than 10 million annual passengers.

The jury was keen to reward “the regional airport that has established itself as a leader and done the most to advance the progress of the aviation industry”. This award notably recognises the innovative strategy adopted by the airport that has led to excellent results in terms of the increase in passenger numbers, up by more than 25% over two years (2017/2018) and by 15% in the first three quarters of 2019. It is also in recognition of the very rapid completion of works concerning the runway that have expanded the potential for new long-haul services, and of the positive contribution made by the airport, together with the Siem Reap and Sihanoukville airports, to Cambodia’s GDP and to the creation of jobs.
