Operation “Zero food waste” in Chile

Santiago international airport (VINCI Airports/VINCI Concessions) is currently trialling a solution to combat food waste on site that will run until February 2021.

Using the mobile application CoFood, the airport’s restaurants and shops enter information about the products available and goods close to their expiry dates, which are offered at reduced prices. Travellers who have downloaded the app can check out what’s on offer in real-time. Any unsold stock will then be collected by Villa Padre Hurtado, a local charity that supports isolated elderly people.
