14 October 2024 - Projects update and handover - France
The newly developed Cadarache junction (southern France) on the A51 (VINCI Autoroutes) was opened to traffic in July 2024.
The work, which began in November 2022, included expanding the toll plaza, creating a new bridge and a roundabout to reduce congestion, increasing safety and improving the quality of access, especially for people working at the CEA and ITER, both based near the junction. A range of offset initiatives to protect biodiversity were put in place, such as creating a pond to attract amphibians, implementing measures to protect the Ophrys de Provence plant, and installing nesting boxes for bats. Over 4,000 hours of integration were provided, and 11 jobs were created by this development project.
