25 June 2015 - Events

Every two years, the Innovation Awards competition invites all VINCI employees to present their most innovative hands-on initiatives, with the idea of using them on the ground and speeding up their dissemination throughout the Group. In 2015, this in-house competition open to all employees includes a "2O20 Climate Challenge", open to all students. On Thursday, June 25, the students pitch their projects to the Jury, in order to prepare the final.

The Innovation Awards competition allows employees in VINCI companies to develop their creative potential by encouraging individual and team initiatives or innovations developed in collaboration with outside partners. Every two years, thousands of projects are examined and almost 150 innovations rewarded across the world. In 2014, we focused on practical application and dissemination of the 2,075 innovations entered in the 2013 Awards and preparing for launch of the 2015 competition. The final awards ceremony will be held in Paris on 10 December 2015.

The competition covers not only technologies but also the full range of innovations that drive progress within the Group, notably in the fields of safety, sustainable development and working conditions. These innovations illustrate a mind set that enables VINCI to continue making progress in terms of quality, safety, deadlines and environmental responsibility.

With the 2020 Climate Challenge, VINCI is opening its Innovation Awards to students!

In 2015, in the framework of the Innovation Awards, VINCI is launching a challenge open to students. In the run-up to COP 21, the Conference of the Parties to the Climate Convention, which will bring world leaders together at end 2015 around the future of the planet, the student challenge invites participants to find simple, innovative, easy-to-implement solutions to help VINCI reduce the environmental footprint of its worksites looking to 2020.

The solutions fall into one of four categories:
- The energy performance of buildings
- Infrastructure and Road Ahead
- Mobilities
- Urban services and connected city.
The presentation of different projects will be held on June 25 in VINCI offices. The objective of this morning is to evaluate the short-listed 22 cases in the first phase of the competition and select the best records in each category. Twelve teams (maximum) will be rewarded next September 24 at the final ceremony of the "Climate Challenge 2020". Numerous prizes are offered, added to which students will have the opportunity to present their project to the Group's senior executives.
