1 May 2017 - New contracts - Malaysia

Having created the Bukit Bintang and Kuala Lumpur Sentral stations on Kuala Lumpur’s first metro line, the teams from Bachy Soletanche Construction Malaysia (VINCI Construction) have secured two new contracts, for the diaphragm walls of two new underground stations on Line 2, currently under construction.

In mid-February 2017, the teams poured the first panel in the Sentul West station, which will be located beneath an existing road. Over a ten-month period they will undertake some 36,000 cu. metres of excavation works – meaning this road will first have to be diverted (see photo).

For the second station, KLCC East, the works, lasting 17 months, include a 1.5 m-thick wall, anchored at a depth of 60 m, and bored piles and barrettes designed for a depth of 90 m. Involving a total of 45,000 cu. metres of excavation works, this operation will be one of the most difficult to carry out, given the future station’s city-centre location.

Two Hydrofraises® will be at work on these projects until early 2018.

And, still in Kuala Lumpur, Bachy Soletanche Construction Malaysia has been awarded works package TP01 on the Tun Razak Exchange (TRX) urban megaproject, headed by the Australian Lendlease Group. The operation involves creating the foundations and the slab of a hotel and a shopping centre (54,500 sq. metres of slab in total), as well as the associated works: deployment of 1,991 piles and 1,731 micropiles. The first drilling operations are planned for May 2017.

The TRX programme, in the heart of what is in the course of becoming the city’s new international business centre, will provide a mix of office space, homes, shops, hotels and services.
