Extending and modernising a port on the Île d’Oléron

GTM Bâtiment Aquitaine (leader) and VINCI Construction Maritime et Fluvial (both VINCI Construction France), in a joint venture with VINCI Construction Terrassement, have started the works in the fishing port of La Cotinière, on the island of Oléron.

These involve extending the port’s existing western sea wall and building a new quayside surface and its associated wall, a third basin, a landing quay and a new fish market.

Being implemented within the framework of a PPP between project company Ceteau-Céans, composed of the two VINCI Construction subsidiaries, and the department of Charente-Maritime, this project faces a number of challenges, such as ensuring the continuation of port and tourism activities during the works and the need to be prepared for eventualities such as, in particular, strong tides and swells.

Handover is scheduled for spring 2021.
