End of downstream drive on Romanche Gavet project

At the Gavet site (south-east France) where Dodin Campenon Bernard teams are currently working, the TBM Rosali completed its drive on 9 February 2017, after several months of drilling in a downstream direction, towards the underground power plant.

This TBM, one of two deployed on this project, has excavated 70,000 cu. metres of rock over a distance of 3,843 m. In the upstream direction, towards the dam, 2,776 m still remain to be driven by the TBM Lilorosa.

Reminder: this is the biggest project currently being implemented for EDF in Europe; it comprises a vast hydroelectric scheme destined to replace six existing power stations on the Romanche River with a single, more efficient, underground power plant.
