Contract for the modernisation of a space surveillance system

Degreane Horizon (VINCI Energies International & Systems), together with ONERA (French national office for aerospace studies and research), has won the contract to renovate the French space surveillance system (GRAVES) on behalf of the French defence procurement authority (DGA).

Unique in Europe and strategically important for France, this system enables the French air force to monitor and record low earth orbit satellites (up to an altitude of 1,000 km). 

ONERA will be in charge of renovation and improvement works at the reception and processing sites, and guarantee the maintenance and then expansion of the system’s performance. Degreane Horizon will be responsible for renovating the transmitter site.

This new contract will extend the system’s lifetime till 2030 and provides for improvements in its performance.
