Fin des travaux d’extension du port de Dakhla

Completion of works to extend the port at Dakhla

Early in 2013, the authority responsible for ports and maritime state-owned property officially accepted the works to extend the port of Dakhla. At peak periods, more than 200 workers were employed on this project, implemented by Dumez Maroc (Sogea-Satom); it required the deployment of more than 850,000 t of rip-rap to build two 650 lm-long quays, a 1 km-long wall and 8 ha of shoreside areas reclaimed from the sea. The new infrastructure, principally intended for the fisheries sector, will be able to process over a million tonnes per year of fish by 2015. This project forms part of a programme to develop ports in the southern provinces of the Kingdom of Morocco, notably involving the construction of new ports and extending existing ones.
